Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week

October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month for schools all over the nation.  The Mustangs Youth Services Center (YSC) was in full force with their campaign, “Stop!  In the Name of Drugs.”  As you walked through the halls of MCHS,  you were able find some startling statistics and facts about the dangers of drugs and long-term effects that they can leave on your life from just ONE choice.

In awareness of Substance Abuse Prevention month, the Mustangs YSC coordinated Red Ribbon Week.  This year we featured Adam Argullin, Professional Drummer turned Drug Recognition Expert.  Adam travels all over the state speaking to high school students on his program called “Stay Tuned, “ a drum infused, motivational anti-drug experience.  His performance was high energy where students learned about the harmful effects of drugs on the body and stories from Adam’s years of experience as a police officer working undercover and as a musician.  The program was full of drums, education, entertainment and very positive.  About 700 students were able to experience this life-changing program.

A special Thank YOU to the McCracken County ASAP Board, the Lone Oak Kiwanis Club and West Kentucky Crimestoppers for sponsoring this fantastic program for  the students here at MCHS for Red Ribbon Week; we could not have done it without their community support!
